So the time came to get my hands dirty in the print room! From taking shapes as inspiration from my sketchbook drawings I decided to try out various effects with the fabric. I used a mixed collection of fabric from light weight cotton and silk to heavy weight cotton drill. from dying parts of the material with procion mx dyes, I then decided to try mono printing with Mx dyes but whilst the dye is still wet I then proceeded to discharge over the top in various stencil/mono print effect design and then use an opaque binder on top to finish of the design .

so combining all of these methods gave me some extremely interesting effects which have then enabled me to think further about how I want to develop my fabric choice and designs. It has also enabled me think further about my pattern design and what shapes work best with the particular area I want to focus on.
